Ubuntu Pageants International is the "brain-child" of Vanessa King, President & Executive Director of Queen Nefertiti Productions, LLC. After several years of competing in pageants and being a director for other pageant systems, Vanessa decided to venture out on her own and design a new pageant system, different than any pageant currently existing.
Ubuntu (pronounced uu-buun-too), is an African word, originating from the Bantu languages, that means "humanity to others" and the belief that "I am what I am because of who we all are." Ms. King decided on this name based on her personal beliefs of what she would do that would benefit all involved with Ubuntu Pageants International.
The mission of Ubuntu Pageants International is to build the self-confidence, poise and values of each of our delegates to obtain the following attributes:
1. Be open and available to others,
2. Is affirming of others,
3. Does not feel threatened that others are able and good,
4. Have a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that they belong to a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
Our goal is to instill selflessness among black women, men and children worldwide through community service, volunteerism and giving back to the community. Each delegate is required to complete a minimum number of volunteer hours within their community. Each delegate will be able to earn money for herself/himself and for her/his favorite charity within their community; the pageant will donate a percentage of each delegates earnings to the delegate's selected charity. The pageant will also donate a portion of it's total profits to a selected charity each year in the location of the national/international competition. This is what makes Ubuntu Pageants International unique!
Our Pageant Charity
The Pixel Project is a complete virtual, volunteer-led global 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise awareness, funds and volunteer power for the cause to end violence against women (VAW) through campaigns, initiatives, projects, and programs at the intersection of social media, new technologies, and popular culture/the Arts.
They are a worldwide coalition of grassroots activists and volunteers who strongly believe that men and women must take a stand together for the right of women and girls to live a life free of gender-based violence. Their team, their allies, and their supporters use the power of the internet to mount a global effort to raise awareness about and hopefully mobilize communities around the world to get involved with ending violence against girls and women.
They work to generate conversation by tearing down taboos and creating safe online spaces to generate discussion about VAW among both men and women. They also run virtual campaigns and projects that challenge expectations and inspire activism by getting the global community actively involved with the cause using social media, pop culture and the Arts.
Their vision is for a world where:
Men and women work together to secure the right of women and girls to a life without violence.
Violence against women is actively addressed and openly discussed by men and women.
Men and boys step up to prevent and stop violence against women.
The Pixel Project was created to:
Raise awareness, funds and volunteer power for the cause to end Violence Against Women (VAW) using the power of the internet and new technologies.
Get men and boys on board the cause to work hand-in-hand with women and girls to stop Violence Against Women.
Generate conversation by tearing down taboos and creating safe online spaces to generate discussion about violence against women among both men and women.
Challenge expectations and inspire activism by getting the global community emotionally engaged and actively involved with the cause using social media, humor, pop culture and other channels.

For All the Real Divas
By Nicole Hudson
For all the times you’ve loved too much and received love so little.
For all of the times you gave your all, to only receive nothing in return.
For all the moments you gave unselfishly and even compromised your journey to ensure the comfort of others or the dreams of everyone else, manifest in this world.
For all the pains you suffered quietly, the tears you held inside.
Take this moment in time to praise yourself and say a job well done!
You are a true “Diva,” better yet, a chosen one.
You are loved by the Almighty who gave his all just like you and me.
And if no one ever told you before…know that you are Special, Strong, Smart and Beautiful!!!!
If only for one moment, know that I love you and appreciate you…DIVA-to-DIVA!
Our pageant is open to all black females and males (any percentage black), ages 13 and up for females and males, from all over the world! We also have our Batebe Princess & ADe Prince Mentoring Program for younger girls and boys, ages 4-12 and recently added our Mini Princess and Prince Program for girls and boys ages 2-3.
